For your consideration is this vintage and increasingly rare 1968 Fender SR2100 Solid State Twin Reverb electric guitar amplifier. Made only for a few short years in the late 1960's, the solid-state incarnation of the Twin Reverb (as well as most other amps in the Fender line) came right out of the left field with both their transistor-based innards and vertical designs with strikingly different cosmetic appointments than their earlier counterparts. The Solid-State line of Fender amps, according to catalogs and advertisements, made their debut at the 1967 NAMM show in Chicago.
Features of the SR2100 Twin Reverb include the aforementioned vertical cabinet and speaker layout, as well as the transistor based circuitry and also features: dual channel operation with (2) 1/4" inputs per channel, bright switch, and controls for Volume, Treble, Bass and "Style" (Pop, Normal, CW/RR). The Vibrato channel features the same aforementioned controls but adds controls for Speed and Intensity, as well as a rather large Reverb knob. The SR2100 puts out 100 watts RMS of silicon transistor solid-state power through (2) Fender Special Design 12" speakers.
This particular example, serial number 3308, is in perfect operating condition save one thing: the Vibrato function appears to not work. With or without the footswitch, the Vibrato effect doesn't apply, nor do the knobs appear to do anything to the signal. That being said, everything else works 100% as it should, and the Reverb sounds amazing! Despite our best efforts, we've all been pleasantly surprised by just how good this solid-state incarnation of the Twin Reverb sounds. The tone is amazingly warm, easy to dial in, and breaks up really nicely at higher volumes. The speakers are in great shape exhibiting no evidence of fatigue.
Cosmetically, good luck finding another example this clean! The tolex is in great shape save a couple of relatively small white scuffs on the left side, the control plate is immaculate, as is the original blue-sparkle grillecloth and drip-rails.
